The 2006 IT Salary Guide

The 2006 IT Salary Guide lists average salaries for a wide array of tech jobs, from Database Manager to Senior Web Developer to Business Systems Analyst. The Guide also provides data about pay levels for cities and regions across the U.S., as well as information about the value of various tech skills.

Clearly, 2006 is a good year for the tech job market. A number of sectors are enjoying healthy hiring trends: network security, wireless communications, business intelligence systems, and Web applications. Also driving hiring are greater regulatory requirements. (Thank the Sarbannes-Oxley Act for that last item.)

IT professionals with sought-after skills are receiving multiple job offers. Particularly hot skills are Windows Administration, Wireless Network Management, and SQL Server Management. The two job categories experiencing the most rapid growth are networking and help desk/end-user support.
