Washington Post: Sometime this week, Facebook will reach a half a billion users. To put that in perspective, the Washington Post notes, "The population inhabiting Facebook now equals that of the United States, Japan and Germany combined. Or, two Mexicos and a Brazil."
That growth has also caused some "growing pains," particularly around Facebook's privacy policies. The six-year-old company has also been attracting increasing attention from legislators and regulators.
