Wired: Last year, Barnaby Jack's proposed demonstration of an ATM attack was canceled following pressure from vendors. This year, he gave the speech, wowing the crowd by getting two ATMs to spit out $20 bills.

Jack demonstrated how to attack the ATMs remotely or in person to infect them with a malware program called "Scrooge." The program could either be used to empty the ATM's stockpile of cash (as much as $600,000) or to capture account numbers and PINs which it would then print on receipts.
