InformationWeek: According to research conducted by Osterman Research for Proofpoint, 35 percent of large enterprises have investigated an e-mail data leak in the last year. 25 percent of those companies investigated the release of confidential, sensitive, or proprietary data on a blog or message board, and 20 percent investigated postings on social networking sites like LinkedIn.
The report also found that many of these companies disciplined employees for leaking information, and in many cases, fired the employees involved.
