Accenture reveals the unique ways that members of the Millennial generation use technology and offers suggestions on how managers can help workers in this age group improve their performance.

Accenture: Accenture says the the millennial generation is "rocking the foundation of information technology in the workplace." The report warns, "Millennials are likely ignoring or violating your IT policies right and left, using non-standard applications and improvising where they think it makes sense."

Key findings from the report include the following:

  • Millennials see themselves as "global citizens."
  • Millennials expect to use their personal technology devices for work.
  • "Awareness of or adherence to corporate IT policies is limited. Millennials routinely bypass corporate approval when it comes to downloading and using technology."
  • Millennials reveal more about themselves online than other age groups.
  • Millennials use a wide variety of communication technology.
