IDC: IDC has lowered its projections for IT spending growth by small- and medium-sized businesses and now expects a 5.5 percent increase over the next four years.
"The downturn had a devastating impact on SMBs worldwide," said IDC vice president Ray Boggs. "Moving forward, small businesses will not follow the past pattern and return to pre-recession spending levels more quickly than midsize firms. Instead, SMBs of all sizes will remain cautious with their IT spending over the next several years."
SMB IT spending should rise by $17.4 billion in 2010, but won't return to 2008's highs until 2011.
